Sk I read this series when I was twelve and it was my choice to read the book series. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience, and if anything, the sexual content built the characters up to a could-be-standing-right-next-to-me reality. So, in truth, I reckon it depends on maturity to read this series, because I found it hard to put down!!
Aliya I enjoyed literally everything up until things got "steamy". I'm 13 and I feel that someone has to be mature enough to set a book like this down. More than a little to explicit ): I wouldn't recommend until at least the 20s tbh. (;
Kelly There are two very explicit sex scenes. I won't be offering this to my middle school students.
Val As a younger reader, I would say this book really depends on the maturity level of the reader. If the reader has already read books with violence, then this one is probably fine. Although Celeana does a lot of violent things, we are spared the details. Likewise with the bedroom scene would be fine if the reader is aware of such topics. There really aren't any details given, so a mature twelve or thirteen year old would be able to handle it.
kate It does have a sex scene, so...
Abby I would definitely not recommend it to a twelve or thirteen year old, even just considering the depth of the violence and ignoring the bedroom scene...
It's for ages about 15 up?? I reckon...
:) It depends on the maturity of the reader, really.
Helen Well, at the other end of the scale, I'm in my 30s and loved it, will likely read it again every few years, and possibly force my significant other to read it too :)
Ellie Wallis I don't know what these people are talking about saying that the spicy scenes aren't detailed. I was thirteen when I read this series and there was WAY too much detail. I would wait until 16-18.
Ember Solstice I would personally say 14 and up, mainly because that's when I read it and I know I would not have read it at a younger age. It also depends on your morals maybe and what you consider to be "age appropriate."
M It is classified as young adult. So is recommended for children above the age of 14. But a younger child can read it. The recommendation is also based on the language and vocabulary as well as the story itself.
Amelia Honestly I think it's fine for 12-13+. The gore is the only thing I found to be a bit unsuitable for certain readers as some gory/fight scenes are extremely descriptive, but the cursing is infrequent and mild and the so called "sex" scenes are not at all descriptive and more implied.
Rachel Middle schoolers would probably be a reach, but high schoolers would be fine. The sexual references in the second book are not that explicit or frequent, and rather tame by what kids that age see on tv or movies.

Max Im 11 and I read it
Lisa This answer is about the first book since I assume it will be read first. I just read the first book and about to start this one. I was wondering if it was suitable for my 12 year old son. I don't think I am going to let him read it just yet. I will wait a year. I think the first book is okay for a mature 13 year old. I have heard the content gets more sexual in the 2nd and 3rd book. Maybe someone else will be able to give you a better answer. Here is a link to Reading Teen that gives more detail about the first book. https://sites.google.com/site/parenta...
Makenna i started reading this series at 12 years old and at the time i read it because so many people were recommending it. as a younger YA reader (13) i dont mind if a book has and scenes because really you can just skip them and it doesn't make much of a difference it also depends on what the person has previously read. if they are 12,13,14 then the person has probably read something like this if they would like to read it. to me i would say 13+ because that is the agethat the first book is targeted at
cass im 11 and i've read the whole series and found little problems with it the only one being the ending of eos (had me crying for a week) but i wouldn't let any of my friends get near theses books so it depends on each person
Janessa Young ages 10 and up and kids in 6th to 7th grade
