It's the strangest things one suddenly notices when starting over from the beginning for the fourth or fifth time (I lost track). This time it's the uniform colours. We know the colours of historians, security, IT and technicians. What about R&D? Do they count as blue? Or the kitchen, or wardrobe, or the PA's or the library. Jodi Taylor I think I once said that R&D wore white coats, except for Prof Rapson who usually wears one of those jackets with leather patches on the elbows, no eyebrows and a worried expression. Mrs Enderby's lot wear green smocks with pins and threaded needles pinned all over them. The kitchen wear their normal clothes, tabards and those white hats with hair nets. The civilian staff - including Rosie Lee and Mrs Partridge - wear whatever they like. And I'm sorry, but I rather fancy the idea of Dr Dowson in a brown cardi and half-moon glasses.
