Jeffrey asked Glynnis Campbell:

IN THE FORWARD OF A NOVEL I ONCE READ, THE AUTHOR WROTE WORDS TO THE EFFECT THAT HE WROTE ABOUT A HALF NOVEL AND THEN DECIDED TO DISCARD IT AND START ALL OVER AGAIN WITH A COMPLETELY NEW STORYLINE. HAVE YOU EVER HAD ANYTHING SIMILAR TO THIS HAPPEN?

Glynnis Campbell I don't get that deep into the woods where I would discard a story, but I often write three or four chapters and make the decision to go another direction. This means I do a lot of backing up and rewriting, but when an idea's better, it's better, so I have to go with it.
