How much research goes into writing your books because I just love historical books with a twist?

Glynnis Campbell I love twists, too! Though I set many of my books in fictional places (don't look for Rivenloch on a map!), I do a great deal of research to get the food/clothing/habitat/history correct. Women warriors did exist, but a whole clan of them is something I invented. Some of my books, like "MacKenzie's Lass," which features an actual Mary Queen of Scots banquet, require lots of historical detail, and I like to get everything right.
