What was the hardest part about writing your story? Was it more difficult than writing for GIRLS or script writing? P.S. You're my hero.

Lena Dunham Thank you, Alison:) Means more than I can say. I think what was most challenging is that with Girls, while it is autobiographical, I can hide behind the veil of fiction. My memoir is all truth, and it's my truth, and so when that is critiqued or attacked it's very hard to have distance from that experience. But writing your truth is also (at least for me) the ultimate catharsis. Any pain that comes along with that is healthy pain (I think!?!?) xo
