Hi Frances. I loved Under the Tuscan Sun so much and am looking forward to reading your new memoir this summer. My question is, how did you feel about the movie adaptation of Under the Tuscan Sun? I enjoyed both the book and the movie, but was surprised at how different they were in certain parts.

Frances Mayes Books and movies. They always will be different because the book is intimate and the big screen is, well, BIG and something must keep happening on it. I liked the movie and knew right away that they would have to make my book more dramatic. Less renovation and more romance!

How did you feel about the many changes in the film version of Under the Tuscan Sun? I saw the movie first and then read the book. They seemed 2 completely different stories! Were you allowed to be involved in the script in any way?
