What does mean to be mortal and immortal in this book? I mean those Balekin kill a lot of people who consider themselves to be immortal. Where is the explanation then?

Faerie are immortal, meaning they can live forever if they don't get killed. Humans, on the other hand, live up to a certain age and die of natural causes (again, if no one interferes :) ).(less)
