Goodreads asked Russell Atkinson:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Russell Atkinson If you're poor at spelling and grammar, then choose another endeavor. However, just because you're a good speller and grammarian doesn't mean you can write well. Read lots of books and reviews to see what works with readers. After you've written you're book, let it sit at least two weeks, then go back and fix it. You'll be amazed at how much you see wrong with it. It will be better when you rewrite it. It's hard to "kill your babies" but it probably needs to be shortened.
