Goodreads asked Gideon Saint:

How do you deal with writer’s block?

Gideon Saint Writer’s block is a misnomer. In my opinion it is a symptom of simply not knowing what to write. A bit like driving in a car without knowing where you are going. You have to stop and figure it out. The cure: stop trying to write. Think about WHAT you are going to write. Don’t write it. Make notes. Doodle. Do bullet points of what you are going to write. Don’t write prose, just notes. When you are finally happy with WHAT you are going to write, write a summary of it. Jill goes to the shops but falls down the escalator. Then expand the summary. Jill … trips on her new flares and falls down the escalator. Expand some more. Jill, too busy eating ice cream to look where she’s going, trips.. etc.
oops, your writer’s block is gone.
