Goodreads asked Kater Cheek:

How do you get inspired to write?

Kater Cheek I just sit down and do it. You can't wait for inspiration. Often I will sit down and feel like nothing is happening, but I write anyway, just write useless garbage I know I'll delete. I usually write my best stuff when I have only 30 or 45 minutes left, and I say "Well, I don't have much time left, I'll just outline my ideas for the next few chapters." Sometimes at that point I'll sit there a lot longer than I intended, because my outline turns into a scene which turns into a longer scene with turns into more outline.
