Goodreads asked S.R. Harris:

How do you get inspired to write?

S.R. Harris When I was in the 4th grade, my teacher, Mrs. Scott went on maternity leave. There was only about 2-3 weeks of school left, we got a substitute, Ms. Carson. Since grades were already submitted, we basically did activities and in the afternoon she would read to us. She read us Tales of a fourth grade nothing. When she was finished, she told us it was part of a series. I spent that summer at the free library reading everything I could.

As I grew up, I started reading a lot of fantasy novels. I started to realize that none of the main characters looked like me, so I started writing my own. I shared my stories with my friends, and it just grew from there.

All girls fantasize about being a princess and I wanted the girls that looked like me to know that they could be.

My books bring a level of diversity, showing the love that is shared between all race of people.
