I still haven't decided what language to reread it in. I need something where I'm good enough that I can get through 1500 pages in a reasonably short time, but bad enough that the style won't cause me physical pain.

Do you like ancient philosophy? Any favourite ideas? Mine has got to be the idea that someone who is guilty of a crime/wrongdoing and receives punishment for it is happier than someone who doesn't (this is found in Plato's Gorgias); Giovanni Reale called it the "single biggest [intellectual] conquest" of all classical antiquity.
