Is this Inheritance Cycle Book 5 or more like a companion novel of the series or another spin-off series?

Barn Owl It's a single point of view novel. It's not going to be a spin-off series, but it sets up for the upcoming series which is "later in the timeline". Most of the main characters are immortal, so I'm not sure how far forward the next books will be.
Maxwell Thomas I have just finished reading Murtagh thanks to an early copy from Penguin Random House, and I can say with full certainty that this is NOT The Inheritance Cycle Book #5.

It is set in The World of Eragon of course, and it takes place after the events of The Inheritance Cycle, but there is a note at the back of the book from Christopher Paolini where he explicitly states this is not book number five. Book number five of The Inheritance Cycle is still to come.
Jared It is book 5 and takes place after the original Inheritance Cycle. It is from Murtagh's pov so I don't know if it is the start of a new series or not.
