This is a bit of a silly question, but I couldn't help wondering: The Vor Game mentions that Bel's cabin on the Ariel had, among other things, "a small cage housing an exotic pet from Earth Thorne called a hamster." Did you have any idea of how Bel acquired this hamster, or what happened to it, when writing that detail? Or was it just a throwaway line of description to round out the setting & character? :)
Lois McMaster Bujold
A throwaway line. Bel likely acquired it in some spaceport shop on a whim. Hamsters are not long-lived creatures -- or at least, my daughter's never were -- so I imagine it was a temporary indulgence.

Your 5 Gods books contain one of my favorite story universes. I've been tempted to read your other books. I love your character development! I haven't read them yet because I'm nervous about becoming obsessed over another series and the feeling of knowing my mind will never find peace until I devour every single book. Which should I start with next? And may the Bastard forgive me if I find another obsession. ^^ -Kalli

I haven't seen the question here recently, so I'll go ahead and ask it: are there any more Vorkosigan books coming? I love the series and the characters, but there are not enough of them. Have you ever thought about possibly encouraging fan fiction or a collaborator along the lines of the late Marion Zimmerman Bradley. The barraar universe seems icy in both plots and characters.

Iirc, you recommended the Griffin & Whyborne series; I've recently found a writer with similarly themed work and am wondering if you'd ever tried her -- K J Charles? There's even a Tor.com article (https://bit.ly/2FCtuSH) Just curious about your response, that's all.
