Reading a Kindle version, though, where the quotation marks when anyone speaks appear in two different styles, with and without serifs. Maddening!
Cannot really feel much for the characters except Rufus, and the mother's reaction to the two sons has me perplexed. She thinks John is Michael but resents Michael when he visits? Huh?
Hope someone else enjoys it, but it's too long a book to plod through when I just cannot connect with it.(less)
