The biggest way is that I do have students in my mind when I write. So I'm not ever just writing a story at random. I'm almost always weighing which of my students would like that story, and whether or not I'm writing in a way that's engaging enough for them.

Hello! I love your book! I teach high school English in NC, and my school purchased a class set of your book. Some of my students read it this year for an independent project and loved it. The main character is really relatable. Was it challenging to write a realistic teenager?
