Is this a good read for a third grade who reads above grade level?

Sabrina My soon to be 3rd grader (reads above grade level also) could definitely follow the basic story line and get into the characters but much like the fir…moreMy soon to be 3rd grader (reads above grade level also) could definitely follow the basic story line and get into the characters but much like the first time I read this book the innuendos, word play and subtle jokes would be lost to a young inexperienced reader. However, these are not necessary for the to be enjoyed as a good adventure story! It definitely has many layers as was the intention of the authors and many from his era like Maurice Sendak and Roald Dahl. This book is one that should be read over and over at different stages of life and development.(less)
