Allison It was strongly implied / stated several times that Big Mak was probably into other criminal enterprises. The repeated mention of a fatal plane crash which was probably due to counterfeit plane parts reminded the reader that the results of counterfeit merchandise can be frivolous or very serious.

Judith Their scheme wasn't complex, & you described it accurately, plus as I understood it, they also sold the superfakes passed off as originals. The bags are trademark fraud, a big part of customs enforcement, & yes, I got the impression Mac was into other counterfeiting, because this didn't ruin his business.
