A Goodreads user asked Katie McGarry:

I recently have finished reading your books. (TAKE ME ON, PUSHING THE LIMITS, DARE YOU TO, and CRASH INTO YOU) and they are all AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! why did you decide to write TAKE ME ON and ... I mean is why did you choose this genre to write about?

Katie McGarry Hi Seraphina,

Thank you so much for reading my books! I decided to write in the YA contemp genre because I want to write books that I needed when I was 16 years old. At the time, I was facing a lot of issues and I didn't feel very hopeful. I want to show readers that no matter the circumstances, there is always hope.

As for why I decided to write Take Me On, when I met West in Crash Into You, I knew he had a story to tell. He loves his sister Rachel so much, but there is a ton of hurt inside of him. I wanted to explore that hurt and find out what made him tick.

Thank you for the questions!

Katie
