Goodreads asked A.R. Mitchell:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

A.R. Mitchell Let your story be a story. Don't turn it into an agenda.

A story that gets turned into an agenda is a piece of propaganda.

You want to talk about difficult stuff in your story, go ahead... but make it about your characters, not current or past thought trends.

And if your plot leads to difficult things - don't be afraid to explore them.
