Jaby asked this question about The Eyes of the Dragon:
1stt King book for me ever-I've avoided him bc I thought he was only horror. Started listening to this audiobook. Seems like a new chapter every 2 min, & it’s very choppy. It’s not the abridged version, so that’s not it. It's also starting off like a very simple YA novel, certainly not what I expected. Granted, I'm only 3 "chapters" in. Does it get better? It's got 4 *’s here, so most of you think so...
Jorge I'm about to get this one too. I don't know anything about it, I love Bronson though, he's awesome in the Larry Correia series Grimnoir Chronicles.

Probably not the best book to start with though, it takes place in the Dark Tower world, I enjoyed that series, it's been a while for me.
I had trouble getting into The Wind Through the Keyhole, still haven't finished it. The Dark Tower can be tough for some.
I've read many of his books, he defenetly takes you on a journey, hardly ever completely enjoyable. I've recently reread the Talisman and Black House, I love the way he writes kids.
I'm a fan, but I'm not so hardcore to be able to recommend a good place to start, although it seems like you're not much into horror. Perhaps Different Seasons. I remember really enjoying that one, and the gr reviews of it make me want to start it right now. (less)
