How do you come up with names? Whenever I try to, they always end up wrong and I have to rewrite the entire story so that the names are right.

Lisa McMann Sometimes I get stuck on a name too. When that happens, I think about the character's personality, ethnicity, and personal back story to see if there's a name that feels right. Sometimes I look at baby name books or historically popular name lists. I usually can't keep writing until I'm sure I've got the right name. I also keep a list of interesting names that I hear in my daily life so I have something to look at as soon as it's time to name a character.
