For me, writing historical fiction novels is the daily joy of blending my two favorite passions—history and literature. A lot of my inspiration comes from traveling, and discovering these historical figures who really excite me. Then, once I'm intrigued by a character or time period, I get to probe the history books to find and extract these fascinating and complex characters and stories. I get to dive into captivating time periods of great turmoil and upheaval. And then, with these raw materials as my inspiration, I get to put a story down on paper that—I hope—will interest and excite and transport readers.

I absolutely loved the Accidental Empress! I just finished it the other day, 9/30/16, so I am a little late reading your historical novels. I just wanted to express how completely sweep away I became, I truly felt as if I was Sisi, experiencing a wide array of emotions that still linger with me days after finishing the book, now I'm 1/2 way thru book 2. Has "Hollywood" thought about a new film based on your books?
