Not only can I visit Scottish lochs on Google Earth and find lists of Viking names from historical ledgers, but I've watched videos of broadsword v. katana fights and listened to the sound of a medieval cart creaking through the woods. For practical details like how to keep sleeve tippets out of the way or what's it like to hug a man in armor, I rely on generous reenactors.
