Goodreads asked Brooke Baxter:

What’s the best thing about being a writer?

Brooke Baxter The best thing about being a writer is getting to create something from nothing. A thought, an idea, a situation I wish I could change, an interesting observation, people watching. All, or any of these prompt stories that take up space and energy in my mind, often kicking my imagination into gear. Then comes the constant thinking and wondering before I actually sit and type. It's like having access to all the stories you could ever want to read, you just have to get them out onto the page. There is something incredibly satisfying knowing that there wasn't this story, then I spent time with the characters in their world. Finally, I have the opportunity to tell their stories to others who otherwise would never have known about them. I wouldn't trade it for anything.
