a v a asked Jennifer A. Nielsen:

When writing in first person, for some reason it's always harder for me to show the character's personality. I want to show that he has a very goofy/sarcastic personality and has a hard time taking things seriously, but am having trouble doing so. Any tips?

Jennifer A. Nielsen Try writing out practice scenes, mostly dialogue, to try to find your character's voice. The scenes don't need to be connected to your plot. Just write scenes to become familiar with his way of speaking. Good luck!
