Were there clues leading up to the reveal about Grace?
Which scene has stuck with you the most?
If you found a book under the floorboards, a diary no less, wouldn't you just sit down and read it from cover to cover instead of seeming to drag it out over many weeks?
Would you want to read another book by this author?
Did Josie's wide eyed enthusiasm, and different perspective, change the way that Zoe sees her new home and how she sees herself?
What surprised you most about the book?
Are there any characters you'd like to deliver a lecture to? If so, who? What would you say?
Josie couldn’t go back for her journal because someone else was renting the house. In all that time, do you really believe she couldn’t once go knock on the door and say, “Hi, I used to live here and left something behind. Do you mind if I look for it?” You couldn’t ever do that, in sixty years?
If you could ask the author anything, what would it be?
How did the setting impact the story? Would you want to read more books set in Morocco?
There's a chasm between Zoe and her husband but for what reason? You only find out titbits about her life; she talks a lot about her baby, Grace, and she seems to spend an awful lot of time alone whilst her husband gets up early and works late. Is he avoiding her? Is there something nefarious going on?
Did this book remind you of any other books?
What do you think happens to the characters after the book's official ending?
Have you ever read anything about Casablanca in this time period?
Are there lingering questions from the book you're still thinking about?
If you had to trade places with one character, who would it be?
