Goodreads asked Paulette Frankl:

What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Paulette Frankl There's more to being a writer than just writing. If you REALLY REALLY want to be a writer then nothing will stop you. You will enter that river and it will flow through you. But then there's the marketing aspect, and that's HUGE. I always say, when choosing a profession, consider all aspects of it. For me, writing is the fun part; marketing is the hard part. It takes up all my time and resources. I keep a small notebook with me at all times, and whenever inspiration strikes I write it down, however long or short. I have hundreds of these things. Be sure to date everything. Most of all, NEVER give up. That's a whole subject unto itself.
