I’ve seen you refer to the gods in the World of 5 Gods as ineffable. I mislike the concept of ineffability. I believe that given enough time, resources and creative curious minds, nothing is ineffable. Do you have any beliefs on the matter outside of your created worlds?
Lois McMaster Bujold
In the real world, "ineffable" is usually a synonym for "we haven't figured it out yet", or "this is too hard for me to understand." Still, what is understanding? For most people, it's metaphors all the way down.
Though if you take "ineffable" as a description of an emotional response, akin to "awe", mm, maybe.
That said, it's interesting to imagine the sort of mental effort that went into development of the scientific worldview in our world going into practical theology in Penric's world. (The medieval Scholastics make a fascinating study as a worked bad example. So much brainpower wasted on so little use...)

I wonder how much interest Miles is taking in his half-sisters and one third (?) brothers, since they are so far away physically and so different in age. I have had several friends with siblings and half siblings far away physically and/or chronologically and they run the gamut from being very close, to being cordial acquaintances, to being essentially strangers.

How did Barryar not have a population crisis after the time of isolation with scads more women escaping to freedom in other places? It seems like you wouldn't have to be a mercenary to get away, there'd be a thriving human trafficking operation going on like in the former Soviet block countries where women would rather be prostitutes or mail order brides to men in less heinous countries than to stay where they are.
