Anuja Gosavi asked:

Loved the plot and characters, but couldnt figure out what led to Todd killing joseph jones... the answer in the book is not convincing enough... Todds character doesnt seem likely to take such an extreme step no matter what the circumstances. Maybe the author herself can clarify?

Elena I don't think it requires any clarity. Although he may not seem like the type to take such an extreme step - I think that was kind of the point - that he was driven to do something entirely out of character which helped trigger the time loop and the entire story. Without Todd's act of violence, we wouldn't have a book.
Also, who can say whether or not someone would or wouldn't take that step? In real life, "very nice people" commit random acts of violence every day. And "very nice people" defend themselves and their loved ones with violence every day as well.
Becky Kaiser Like a state trooper I know once said, after a 40-yr. career, he discovered anyone is capable to do the unthinkable at any time given the circumstances. Many times he heard, "That person wouldn't have done that," only to find, yes, that person did do that. I believe Todd was capable of the murder due to the circumstances he found his family living.
