There were links present throughout, but it took me a while to understand that both Sam and Sadie were participating in the game. Had this revelation occurred earlier in the book, it may not have been as disruptive to my reading experience. The timing of this realization, so close to the conclusion, caused me to lose my immersion in the story and made it challenging to regain my focus before finishing the last page.
