I think kids read for the parts that interest them and skip over the stuff that’s not so interesting. Yes Sadie's relationship with Dov was unhealthy but I don’t think it was described in a titillating way that would be harmful for a mature teen. If a teen finds the book too boring and adult, they will DNF long before they get to the bit of mature content that exists.(less)
