Could a 14 year old read and understand/enjoy this?

Although it may seem like a good book for a gam…moreI do NOT think this is suitable for a 14 year old (I'm a mom of 18 yr old twins who were/are readers). Although it may seem like a good book for a gamer kid, there is a recurring theme of death and mourning of several important people in the story. More importantly there is some ungraphic but still easily understood S&M sex scenes and depressed people. IT is a pretty heavy contemporary novel IMO. Vocabulary in the book is also advanced, although if you read with a kindle you can highlight and look up the meaning easily.(less)
