It made me think deeply about the state of being that those of us have who are so rich that they look upon the world as a panoramic scene made just for them including their wives. The attitude toward money that Diaz described seemed like satire to me, but that is the super rich God complex. The relationships, being what they were, gave me chills except the loving relationship between Ida and her father. It was also a great mystery. (less)
