What’s your advice for aspiring writers?

Maria Daversa Read! Read, read, read! Read everything you can! Fiction books, books on writing, writing magazines. Even spend time checking out writing websites and see what they have to offer, what might be useful to you as you learn the craft. Then write. Write in a journal, or try practice pieces, or write essays. Write that novel you've been carrying around in your head and get it down on paper--even if it sounds terrible. You can't edit it until you get it written down.
