<spoiler> The book depicts an abusive relationship (older person in position of authority abusing his younger student) that includes violence and scenes in which the victim is uncomfortable with the sex (wants to say no, but doesn't think she can do so because of the nature of their relationship and emotional abuse she has endured in it). While it is uncomfortable to read, it is not explicitly described or graphic. There is also a violent death scene involving guns. </spoiler>

I don't really think so, in my own personal opinion. But if you're an adult asking for yourself, you won't get an accurate idea of this book from a list of scenes pulled out of context. Making violence/sex the #1 consideration in evaluating a book is extremely limiting, the author's treatment of these scenes & how they fit into the story is everything. If you're asking if this book is suitable for young readers, I would say no...it's about gaming but is not a kid's book. PS to everyone: yes or no answers are sufficient for this type of question, please don't list events.

It always worries me when I read such questions. What motivates readers to ask, I wonder? Is it because they have a horror of reading about sex and violence or perhaps they actually want to read about such matters? Either way, how sad for both! I prefer to take it as it comes. Let's face it, if those posing such questions dared reflect for a few moments their questions would probably rule out reading the Bible, although I suspect most of those asking would be shocked at THAT thought!

Yes, there is.

In telling life stories it is only natural that all of us have been traumatized, dealt with and in some ways been formed by our experiences. Asking this question is in some ways more sensationalist ... as I just reread line item acts of violence out of context for the last 5 minutes - and that was not the experience I had while reading the book.

Yes there is (violent/sexual) scenes in the book.
Lisa Wright
There is one violent incident towards to end, but the sex is not graphic at all.
