John Grisham A Time To Kill was told through the eyes an idealistic young lawyer in a small
town in Mississippi. That was the life I was living in 1985 when I began writing the novel. Jake is/was very autobiographical. Harry Rex was based on a friend of mine and we’re still speaking. Since then, I have not based characters on real people.
