Hi Stephan, I read the Baker's Secret about a year ago and the images still haunt me. What a great book. And revenge is so sweet. What's next on your agenda?
Stephen P. Kiernan
Thank you so much, Frank. I'm delighted that you enjoyed it.
Since that book came out, I wrote and published UNIVERSE OF TWO, a love story set amid the development of the atomic bomb. Now out in paperback.
I'm pleased to say that I have a book coming next spring (again from the fine people at Morrow) that hews close to THE BAKER'S SECRET. It starts in the same geographic area, and begins six weeks after WWII has ended.
It is a story about how a damaged nation rebuilds, and I hope readers will find correlations with here and now in America. There's a ton of art, a torrid romance, and French food in mouth-watering detail.
Next May or June is my hope. Things will move along as soon as I can find a decent title!
Thanks again for your question, and for reading my work.

My dad passed away just recently. He was part of the 82nd airborne and took part in at least one combat jump in Normandy. So, when Emma asked about the jellyfish in the sky, my heart burst open and tears have been flowing ever since. Dad has always been my hero but I never really thought of him as a hero for others. Thank you, Stephen, for giving life to his story, and to the citizens of France during the occupation?

I recently read The Baker's Secret and the Hummingbird. I like your genuine style of writing very much but find myself hesitant to pick up The Curiosity. The premise is a bit far-fetched and flirts too much with the supernatural, which I am not a fan of. Would you say the book focuses on relationships between characters more than science? Also, what is your next novel about?
