Lanie (Lanies Book Thoughts)
Lanie (Lanies Book Thoughts) asked Danielle L. Jensen:

What made you decide to write a story about trolls, rather than one of the more glamorous types of "monster"?

Danielle L. Jensen Good question! The answer really comes down to writing style. When I write a book, I don't outline at all. I get an idea in my head, I think about it for a bit, and then I start writing and see where the idea takes me. In the case of Stolen Songbird, the idea was the setting. I had a dream about a city buried with rubble, and the story grew out of questions I asked myself about the place. Who would live there? How would they survive? Why would they choose to stay? The trolls came into being as a result of those answers, so it was more a matter of the story needing to be about them than a conscious decision on my part to write about them. Hopefully that makes sense!
