Hi Juliet, I don't have a huge question for you, more just wanted to take a minute to express how wonderful your writing is. Your take on fantasy is a breath of fresh air every time I pick up one of your books. Thanks for taking us all on these great adventures with your characters over the years! As a writer, which character resonates with you most from your career?
Juliet Marillier
I think I have answered this elsewhere - but will do so again! Thanks for the positive feedback, it's very welcome. It's hard to pick one character as I tend to be very wrapped up in whichever characters I am currently writing. But if I have to pick just one it's Grim from the Blackthorn & Grim series. His voice came to me pretty much effortlessly and I was close to him from the start, even though Blackthorn gets more of the narrative. Blackthorn is my number 2 choice though in the past I would have chosen Faolan from the Bridei Chronicles, originally intended to be a secondary character only, but stepping up of his own accord to be central in Blade of Fortriu and The Well of Shades. I guess I relate to the most troubled characters.

Do you know how many books will be in your Blackthorn and Grim series? Will it be a trilogy or do you plan on making it longer? I loved Wildwood Dancing and all of your other books, though I have yet to read Cybeles Secret..I just would rather marathon the whole series than be anxious for the next ones to come out!

First off you're a wonderful writer and your imagination is so impressive. So many different characters. So many different conversations. You're astounding! Thank you for being a writer. I'd love to know if it comes easily to you, but that's not my question. I'm curious what fairytale or idea inspired "the dogs" in Flame of Sevenwaters?
