Joseph Delaney Yes, Tom has certain abilities which might become magical. A seventh son of a seventh son would certainly not use magic but, of course, Tom is something more and has his lamia blood to draw upon! I do agree that the Tom and Kratch relationship has some features of a familiar!

I've read the Spook's Apprentice series several times, Mr. Delaney, and recommend them at the bookstore where I work. My question is about the landscape and environments of the books: they are so realistic you feel you need that bit of cheese to keep walking :-) What did you base the landscape on? Your own countryside or areas that you love to walk in?

I love your Spook series and I red all the books. The folklore, the refferance from actual UK places, the magic,witches. It is amazing what you did! I saw some changes in the last one: maybe you was forced to end the series or there were no more ideas, which is understandable after so many books. Did you ever considered a series with Tom adult,in the place of the Spook and a different perspective and way of thinking?

Around what time period is the last apprentice series? It seems to be around the time the Americas were discovered and the colonization from Europe. If it is, will there be spooks who move from Europe and go to the newly discovered continent to deal with new threats from the dark? Maybe a spook was there during the hysteria of the "Salem Witch Trials".
