Is evelyn hugo a manipulative person? I finished this book in November and i just read a review by a bookstagram, she calls evelyn a manipulative bastard, but i don't think she is tho, or maybe there's a proof that she is manipulative in the book but i don't realized it?

Her first husband Ernie whom she only married to get to Hollywood. The entire marriage/annulment to Max Rivera was a choreographed manipulation on Evelyn's part. She was frequently manipulating the media and public's opinion about her. Evelyn is even manipulating Monique to get what she wants.

So, yes, Evelyn is very manipulative. Perhaps you can say that sometimes it's for good or has the benefit of keeping the truth hidden and her and her family safe.(less)
