Andy Weir I considered it, but I thought it would get stale. It would also be a let-down for anyone who read The Martian. "Oh. So he's not safe. Oh. More problems, just on Hermes instead of on Mars. So we're doing this story again with a different veneer? Okay..."

I'm thrilled that Matt Damon will be playing Mark. I can't wait to see it!

Mark was always looking forward even in times of trouble and imminent death.Most fictional characters see the most important moments from their past flash before their eyes when they are going to die. Very rarely does Mark reminisce about his family and his old life. Why did you make him that way? Why not throw in some heart-wrenching moments of nostalgia in there?
