Gareth Howells
Gareth Howells asked Jodi Taylor:

Hi Jodi - I have read 7 of the Chronicles books and I've bought Doing Time recently and I just wondered, is it quite "stand alone" as I haven't finished the Chronicles series yet. Also, how do you think they differ? I know the new trilogy is about the Time Police, but is the tone different? Love the books and can't wait to read more. Thanks.

Jodi Taylor Hi Gareth, Yes, you should be fine reading Doing Time. It's not quite stand-alone - it does reference St Mary's on occasion so your having read the Chronicles should help rather than hinder. They differ in that the TP's priority is Time rather than History. I was scribbling away one day and suddenly thought - how irritating must St Mary's appear to an organisation like the Time Police.' The tone of the books is much the same - things still go wrong and catastrophes still abound. Sadly, this tends to be based on the author's personal experiences and we're always being told to write what we know. Thanks again for your comments.
