Andy Weir It was a delicate balancing act. I needed the reader to get all the information, but it couldn't just be dry exposition or it would read like a technical manual. So I made Mark a smart-ass, allowing me to slip jokes in all over the place.

As for what happens when he gets home, that's up to you to speculate on. :)
