How did you come up with the storyline of Dark Hollow? And also do you know before writing what major twists and turns the story will take or do you just write as you go?

Tara Winters The storyline for Dark Hollow actually took shape from what was originally a fantasy novel. I had written that book almost to completion when I realized that I wasn't loving it. When I decided to change the premise and put in the challenge of a heroine from our world trying to solve the riddles of an unknown world, the story just flowed.
Originally, the twists and turns were not all there, I start a book with a general framework but I do not always keep to it because situations arise with the characters that send me in a different direction.
It seems strange to admit that my own fictional creation does truly develop a life of its own and sometimes, things develop that I need to incorporate into the story!
