Did you ever worry that your story would be too technical? Please talk about how you - with your in-depth knowledge of NASA and space travel - were able to remain objective enough to neither overwhlem nor patronise your readers? It must have been difficult to find that balance.

Andy Weir It was a constant balancing act. The main reason I got away with spewing so much science exposition at the reader is because Mark Watney is a smart-ass. So I could put jokes into the exposition to keep it interesting.
