Elizabeth asked this question about Madly, Deeply: The Diaries of Alan Rickman:
How can they condense all his diaries into one volume! I want this to be multiple volumes so we can read as much of his diaries as possible. If he was here to publish them himself I don't think he would have let a publisher talk him into condensing all his diaries into one volume. He was a great and wonderful man and he deserves better. Anyone else agreed with me?

It was simply notes on times, places, and people he met: a very private list to remind himself of social connections. As you say, he was a great and wonderful artist, but I think that his memory is best served by not publishing his very private notes which don't begin to address his artistry but are simply social calendars. What a waste.(less)
