Serenityjane asked Gail Carriger:

Do you have any plans to tell the story of Alexia's father?

Gail Carriger Well you can get a glimpse into his younger personality and his relationship with Floote in my short story: "The Curious Case of the Werewolf That Wasn't, the Mummy That Was, and the Cat in the Jar." And, of course, during the course of the Alexia books I had to figure out his whole life. I have the start of a book (his childhood in Italy) and outline notes, but ~ right now ~ it's on the back burner. Regency is not my time period so it would require a great deal of research, and as the book spans a lot of time, so I'd have to learn a new writing style as well. Because of other commitments I just don't have the bandwidth needed to devote to a book like this. I would love to write it eventually, though. Perhaps even serialized.
