Has learning to pull reader's strings affected your enjoyment of reading? If you're reading a tense passage but you're aware what the author is doing, is it less potent?

This is a really good question.
I do have high expectations of the books I read. That said, I love finding new authors. I read traditionally published authors and indie authors. I am like any other reader in that I want a good story. When an author is able to pull at my heartstrings, make me feel the intensity of the moment, etc. I will go back and find any other books that author writes.
